About Me

I am a South African software developer and Master’s researcher driven by a simple philosophy: learn deeply and build cool things. I love at the idea of using Computer Science for the improvement of different, unrelated fields. That intersection is too fun not to explore.

The Research

My current academic focus is in Robotics and Computer Vision, specifically tailored for cave environments. I work on the unique challenges of subterranean navigation—solving for low-light perception, GPS-denied localisation, and autonomous mapping. My research wants to prioritise the exploration of caves for digital recreation, so we’re trying to develop an efficient path planning solution for the drone to take in order to some this problem.

Beyond Academic

Beyond my research, I am an a Software Developer where I learn about cool topics in the world of software engineering and use that knowledge to build cool software systems for client.

I love exploring different topics in programming and software; I’ve spent too much time customising my Neovim setup to go back to VS Code; and I may or may not spend a little too much time going down tech rabbit holes everyday.
